JENNIFER SCAFIDE
How long have you been drawing?
KATIE MACALEESE
For as long as I can remember.
SCAFIDE
How long have you been working on your comic?
MACALEESE
Since about late June of 2003.
SCAFIDE
Has anime influenced you and/or art/comic in anyway? If so, how?
MACALEESE
Yes. I draw mostly anime and if you look at our comics closely you
can see some anime styles, the tear drop and the eye expressions and such.
SCAFIDE
What do you call your drawing style?
MACALEESE
Screwed up. Its mostly a complete mix of different things, mostly anime.
SCAFIDE
Where or how did you learn to draw?
MACALEESE
I see things on the internet or in drawing books, I trace bases first
and then I draw them again on my own so then i know what I'm doing.
SCAFIDE
How did you develop your drawing/art style?
MACALEESE
I grew up drawing on my stairs and watching anime A LOT so they just
intertwined.
SCAFIDE
Do you think anime has had a big in packed on American Animation? Why
or why not?
MACALEESE
Yes. It brings a total new perspective, brings other views.
SCAFIDE
Do you think anime has effected a lot of people's drawing style and/or
comics? Why or why not?
MACALEESE
Yes. If they have a passion for something it becomes part of their
life, and if it involves drawing and they can draw then there ya go.
SCAFIDE
If you think anime has effected a lot of people's drawing styles and/or
comics, how did anime affect them?
MACALEESE
From personal experience, I would draw things I saw. Then it would
become more cartoony to match anime and manga.
SCAFIDE
Do you use any kind of programs in the making of the comic? If so,
what is it, how much was it and where did you get it from?
MACALEESE
We just use common paint, its pretty easy and it came wit the computer.
SCAFIDE
How long have you been in to anime?
MACALEESE
I've watched anime for as long as I can remember.
SCAFIDE
Which do you like more American Animation or Japanese Animation? Why
do you like that one more?
MACALEESE
Japanese, American stuff seems so corny.
SCAFIDE
Which do you like more Anime or Manga? Explain why you choose what
you choose. If both explain you why couldn't choose one or the other.
MACALEESE
I think I prefer anime because it seems to have better drawing.
SCAFIDE
How does it take you to make a comic?
MACALEESE
Depends how long or how much I have to think, if we have an idea what
we're doing it takes maybe a few hours, less!
SCAFIDE
Are you a fan of anime, Manga, or both?
MACALEESE
Both!!
SCAFIDE
What are some of your favorite anime shows? Why do you like them? Why
do you think other people would like them?
MACALEESE
Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, InuYasha, Chobits, Fruits Bbasket, Rurouni
Kenshin, Ayashi No Ceres, Card Captors. I like them all because they are funny, greatly drawn stuff like that. Other people
would like them only if they are into the kinda stuff that go threw the story.
SCAFIDE
What are some of your favorite Manga?
MACALEESE
The only mangas I know are the comic book stories of the anime shows
I watch, they are just done in manga. I read the Dragon Ball Manga and Sailor Moon.
SCAFIDE
What do you know about anime?
MACALEESE
I know the basics, the eyes and stuff. The expressions like the tear
drop, things of that sort.
